THURSDAY - Stained Glass Workshop - 10am to noon; Learn basic copper foil stained glass techniques with Audrey Martin. Classes are two hours long and all supplies are provided. FRIDAY - Veteran's Day Ceremony - 11am; Master of Ceremony will be Ron Janey. Guest speaker will be Bo Janey, who recently returned from a tour of duty in Iraq. This Veteran's Day will be the first official outing for Veteran Phil Lightfoot's veterans float. Lightfoot has been gathering names and photos this year to honor those Hocking Countians who are MIA or KIA from the conflicts in Korea, Vietnam and Iraq. There are 14 such men. The float will be parked along Market Street across from Worthington Park to allow the public to view the photos and names up close. Worthington Park, corner of Main and Market Streets.

FRIDAY - Wonders of Old Man's Cave - 1pm; Meet the Hocking Hills State Park Naturalist at the Naturalist's Cabin located behind the Old Man's Cave Visitor Center for a short hike, and discover some facts about the history of the area and the rock formations that are found throughout the park. FRIDAY - Sandstone Bistro Grand Re-opening - 7pm to 10pm; The Sandstone Restaurant will kick off the re-opening of the Bistro downstairs with musical entertainment by EASTWOOD. SUNDAY - Veteran's Day Parade - 2:30pm; This year, the parade Grand Marshalls will be Robert A. and Linda K. Hartwick, parents of Army Spc. Robert P. Hartwick, who was killed in Iraq on June 6, 2011. The parade's theme is "A Soldier's Homecoming." Anyone interested in entering a unit in the parade should contact Kay Wilson at (740) 385-6204 (evenings only) or Phil Lightfoot at (740) 603-3758. The parade will form at the mall located at the corner of Front and Gallagher Streets from 12:30 to 2:15 p.m. The parade will travel from the mall on Gallagher to Main St., then down Main St., ending at Tansky Motors. People, businesses and veteran's organizations are encouraged to place patriotic floats in the parade. The top three floats will be awarded prize money. Included in the parade will be Veteran Phil Lightfoot's recently initiated Veterans Float. The group meets on the second Tuesday of each month under the mentorship of Dennis Savage and Christa Myers. Each month a theme-based contest is held and members vote for the best picture. The winner gets to pick the next month's theme. According to Christa Myers, the group "does photo critiques and uses Flickr to share photos." The group is working on bringing in some speakers on different topics, organizing off-site shoots, and arranging Photoshop classes. DAILY (Mon - Sat) The Columbus Washboard Company Museum and Gift Shop - There is so much history from our company and building's past that we wish to share it with everyone. The tour will not only provide historical information, but will also include the opportunity to observe the manufacturing of washboards, and participate in making music with the washboard. The factory will operate daily, as usual, with our washboards being produced one at a time by hand. We are the only manufacturer of washboards remaining in the United States. Our gift shop features our washboards, memorabilia and new line of vintage soaps. The Museum is a WiFi hotspot and offers snacks and beverages, for a place to relax and take care of business. SATURDAY - Frontier Trail Hike - noon to 4pm; A short hike through Ash Cave at Hocking Hills State Park will take you back in time more than 500 years! On Saturday November 5, 2011 between he hours of 12:00 noon and 4:00 p.m. Ash Cave will come alive with the sights and sounds of the history of the entire Hocking region. As park visitors are guided down the fully handicapped accessible trail they will meet costumed characters dressed in period clothing and actually have the chance to interact with history. They will find out what the CCC had to do to carve the trails through Hocking Hills, they can actually ask Richard Roe (the Old Man of Old Man's Cave) why he stayed in the Hocking Hills or listen as the Shawnee & Wyandot tell what they thought of this magical place. The Hocking Hills region has one of the richest histories in Ohio and this is a unique opportunity to learn that history first hand. Kids of all ages will enjoy the fun and excitement. His Pencil Sharpener Museum, previously located at his home, has been moved to the Welcome Center and is open daily. This amazing collection of over 3400 pencil sharpeners has been featured in national magazines and is reputed to be the largest collection in the United States. DAILY (Mon - Sat) The Columbus Washboard Company Museum and Gift Shop - There is so much history from our company and building's past that we wish to share it with everyone. The tour will not only provide historical information, but will also include the opportunity to observe the manufacturing of washboards, and participate in making music with the washboard. The factory will operate daily, as usual, with our washboards being produced one at a time by hand. We are the only manufacturer of washboards remaining in the United States. Our gift shop features our washboards, memorabilia and new line of vintage soaps. The Museum is a WiFi hotspot and offers snacks and beverages, for a place to relax and take care of business. Tours will be offered Monday through Friday at 10:00am, noon, and 2:00pm; Saturdays by appointment. Special arrangements will be made for large groups.
