Donated items include vacations, sports items, beautiful handcrafted sculptures, baskets, pottery etc. One of the county's largest and exciting summer events. FRIDAY - 7pm to 8:30pm; Summer concert series in its 20th season features thirteen weeks of live music at the gazebo in Worthington Park in Logan, every Friday evening from June through August. Bring lawn chairs as bench seating is limited. Food & beverages for sale in the park or bring your own picnic basket. No alcohol permitted. Portable restroom on site. Concerts generally occur rain or shine except in a severe storm. Concerts are free due to the generosity of local merchants, organizations and individual donors. DAILY (Mon - Sat) The Columbus Washboard Company Museum and Gift Shop - There is so much history from our company and building's past that we wish to share it with everyone. The tour will not only provide historical information, but will also include the opportunity to observe the manufacturing of washboards, and participate in making music with the washboard. The factory will operate daily, as usual, with our washboards being produced one at a time by hand. We are the only manufacturer of washboards remaining in the United States. Our gift shop features our washboards, memorabilia and new line of vintage soaps. The Museum is a WiFi hotspot and offers snacks and beverages, for a place to relax and take care of business. Tours will be offered Monday through Friday at 10:00am, noon, and 2:00pm; Saturdays at 11:30am and 1pm. Special arrangements will be made for large groups. SATURDAY - Historic Mine Site Celebration & Dedication - 1pm; The Wayne National Forest and the New Straitsville History Group will celebrate the completion of the Upstream Rock Run Project and dedicate a historic marker during a public ceremony. This American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (Recovery Act) project in Perry County is located one mile north of the town of New Straitsville, Ohio on State Route 93. The goal of this Recovery Act project known as "Devastation to Destination" is to construct a healthy functioning riparian corridor, restore water quality, and create an integrated land management strategy. The project will increase the overall health of the watershed ecosystem, resulting in species diversity among the aquatic and wildlife habitats that once existed in the watershed. The local history group, in partnership with the Wayne National Forest, is coordinating the placement of an Ohio Historical Society marker at the restored site. The marker will commemorate the phenomenal story of the mine fire that was set by striking miners in 1884 and is still burning underground today. Because space is limited at the site, visitors are encouraged to car pool. Vans will be available to provide transportation to the site starting at 12:30 p.m. and departing from Hubert Dunkle Hall (New Straitsville). Following the ceremony, there will be light refreshments hosted by the New Straitsville History Group at Dunkle Hall. FREE
