TONIGHT - The History of Lake Logan - 7pm to 8:45pm; B. J. King will present the history of Lake Logan, with the assistance of Richard Klinger and Jerry Hutchison. Located one mile south of the city of Logan, Lake Logan is a year round fishing, boating, bird watching, hiking and flood control lake. It encompasses 318 acres of land and 400 acres of lake, with a history as rich as the wildlife it shelters. SATURDAY & SUNDAY - Train Rides with Historic Village Stop - noon & 2:30pm; Take a leisurely trip on a passenger train dating back to the 1920s. Hear about Hocking Valley history as you pass the remains of industries, canal locks and other historic landmarks. The noon trip to Haydenville covers 14 miles roundtrip and the 2:30 trip to Logan is 22 miles roundtrip. His Pencil Sharpener Museum, previously located at his home, has been moved to the Welcome Center and is open daily. This amazing collection of over 3400 pencil sharpeners has been featured in national magazines and is reputed to be the largest collection in the United States. DAILY (Mon - Sat) The Columbus Washboard Company Museum and Gift Shop - There is so much history from our company and building's past that we wish to share it with everyone. The tour will not only provide historical information, but will also include the opportunity to observe the manufacturing of washboards, and participate in making music with the washboard. The factory will operate daily, as usual, with our washboards being produced one at a time by hand. We are the only manufacturer of washboards remaining in the United States. Our gift shop features our washboards, memorabilia and new line of vintage soaps. The Museum is a WiFi hotspot and offers snacks and beverages, for a place to relax and take care of business. Tours will be offered Monday through Friday at 10:00am, noon, and 2:00pm; Saturdays at 11:30am and 1pm. Special arrangements will be made for large groups. SATURDAY & SUNDAY - Public Powwow in the Hocking Hills honoring Chief Logan - 10am to 9pm; Inter-tribal event honoring a Native American hero from the past - Chief Logan of the Mingo tribe on the eastern frontier - will present history and traditions. The powwow will feature Native American drums, food, dancers and vendors (including jewelry, art, crafts and clothing). Powwow proceeds will help Special Friends of Hocking County (program similar to Big Brother/Big Sisters). This is a family event, so no alcohol, drugs or large dogs are permitted. DAILY (Mon - Sat) The Columbus Washboard Company Museum and Gift Shop - There is so much history from our company and building's past that we wish to share it with everyone. The tour will not only provide historical information, but will also include the opportunity to observe the manufacturing of washboards, and participate in making music with the washboard. The factory will operate daily, as usual, with our washboards being produced one at a time by hand. We are the only manufacturer of washboards remaining in the United States. Our gift shop features our washboards, memorabilia and new line of vintage soaps. The Museum is a WiFi hotspot and offers snacks and beverages, for a place to relax and take care of business. DAILY (Mon - Sat) The Columbus Washboard Company Museum and Gift Shop - There is so much history from our company and building's past that we wish to share it with everyone. The tour will not only provide historical information, but will also include the opportunity to observe the manufacturing of washboards, and participate in making music with the washboard. The factory will operate daily, as usual, with our washboards being produced one at a time by hand. We are the only manufacturer of washboards remaining in the United States. Our gift shop features our washboards, memorabilia and new line of vintage soaps. The Museum is a WiFi hotspot and offers snacks and beverages, for a place to relax and take care of business.
