Show features a five piece band, seven additional performers and special guests. THURSDAY, June 16 to SATURDAY, June 18th - Washboard Music Festival - WOW! The 2011 Washboard Music Festival is going to be GREAT! We have a fantastic variety of music entertainment including Dixieland, Blues, Swing, Hot Jazz, Jugband, Bluegrass, Funky Creole, Old-Time Country, Ragtime and even Celtic. It all begins on Thursday evening with Ohio's music legend, Arnett Howard, and his Band playing his special brand of Jazz, Creole, Blues and more. Arnett and his group are returning by popular demand to kickoff the festivities for the second year. This will be his only appearance at the Festival and you won't want to miss it. In addition to our toe-tappin' music the Festival presents arts and crafts from many of our area's Appalachian artisans; a beautiful quilt show featuring quilts from Brown County, Ohio; an exhibit from the Civil War era; great food; tours of the Columbus Washboard Company; antique tractors and hit 'n miss engines; Saturday Night's parade and much, much more. And, we can't forget the FREE kid's rides and entertainment by the world famous puppeteer Grandpa Cratchet, the Old Coot himself. TUESDAYS - SATURDAYS Washboard Festival Quilt Show - Sixth of twelve monthly exhibits for 2011. Exhibit runs through June 25 and features quilts from Brown County. The 2011 show consists of 40 quilts from the historic river town of Ripley provided by the Safe House Quilters. The group's name came from the fact that Ripley played a major role in the Underground Railroad by providing safe houses for slaves traveling to freedom in Canada. Brown County is a participant in the quilt barn trail phenomenon that links its Quilt Barn and Covered Bridge Tour with other Ohio counties participating in the "Clothesline of Quilts" across Southern Ohio and throughout the United States. New Exhibit at the Historical Society features several hundred years of the county's history condensed into four panels on display. His Pencil Sharpener Museum, previously located at his home, has been moved to the Welcome Center and is open daily. DAILY (Mon - Sat) The Columbus Washboard Company Museum and Gift Shop - Monday through Friday at 10:00am, noon, and 2:00pm; Saturdays at noon, and Sundays and holidays by appointment. There is so much history from our company and building's past that we wish to share it with everyone. The tour will not only provide historical information, but will also include the opportunity to observe the manufacturing of washboards, and participate in making music with the washboard. The factory will operate daily, as usual, with our washboards being produced one at a time by hand. We are the only manufacturer of washboards remaining in the United States. Our gift shop features our washboards, memorabilia and new line of vintage soaps. The Museum is a WiFi hotspot and offers snacks and beverages, for a place to relax and take care of business. Tours will be offered Monday through Friday at 10:00am, noon, and 2:00pm; Saturdays at noon, and Sundays and holidays by appointment. Special arrangements will be made for large groups.
