FRIDAY, January 27th - 10th Annual Bowl-A-Rama at Starbrick Gallery - 5pm to 9pm; Buy the Bowl & the Chili's Free! The area's finest potters are spinning unique art bowls for you to fire up with our homemade chilies. Also that night: Laurie Vancouver presents new Covered Casserole Dishes - beautiful functional ware from our most prolific potter. Laurie's show will run through Feb. 21. FRIDAY, January 27th - Acoustic Café: Erin McKeown, Carrie Rodriguez, Kelly Joe Phelps - 8pm; This year's version of the "an Acoustic Café evening" Tour features Erin McKeown, Carrie Rodriguez (hosting), & Kelly Joe Phelps. Each evening is hosted by Carrie Rodriguez who explains the evening and how it will flow. The order of artist appearances on stage changes every night at the whim of the artists and the promoters. Each act performs a solo set that may or may not include some musical or vocal help from the other acts - each night is a detour, an exploration. The constants are that the artists all enjoy themselves and each other, that they all play together for an encore at the end of the night, and that the audiences get an intimate, affordable, often amazing live experience featuring great solo artists collaborating live together. DAILY - Paul A. Johnson Pencil Sharpener Museum - Mon to Sat, 9am to 5pm; Sun 11am to 5pm; Rev. Paul Johnson began his collection over 20 years ago. His Pencil Sharpener Museum, previously located at his home, has been moved to the Welcome Center and is open daily. This amazing collection of over 3400 pencil sharpeners has been featured in national magazines and is reputed to be the largest collection in the United States. DAILY (Mon - Sat) The Columbus Washboard Company Museum and Gift Shop - There is so much history from our company and building's past that we wish to share it with everyone. The tour will not only provide historical information, but will also include the opportunity to observe the manufacturing of washboards, and participate in making music with the washboard. The factory will operate daily, as usual, with our washboards being produced one at a time by hand. We are the only manufacturer of washboards remaining in the United States. Our gift shop features our washboards, memorabilia and new line of vintage soaps. The Museum is a WiFi hotspot and offers snacks and beverages, for a place to relax and take care of business. Tours will be offered Monday through Friday at 10:00am, noon, and 2:00pm; Saturdays by appointment. Special arrangements will be made for large groups.
