FRIDAY, SATURDAY & SUNDAY - Spring Celebration Weekend at the Grouse Nest Restaurant - 4pm to 9pm; The Grouse Nest Chefs are ready to celebrate Spring! To welcome it in, they've crafted a special menu inspired by the Spring Harvest. This Spring Harvest Menu will only be offered on the weekends listed here. So come on out to the Grouse Nest and taste the Spring! Musical entertainment will be provided both Saturdays by Dan Rees, whose repertoire includes Frank Sinatra, Harry Connick Jr, Dean Martin, The Beatles and more. SATURDAY - 9th Annual Health & Fitness 5k Walk/Run - 9am; All proceeds benefit the Community Action Food Bank of Southeast Ohio. The course begins at the Hocking County Health Department, then it loops behind Kroger to Chieftain Drive. You will make a right on Chieftain Drive to the top of the hill making another right at the Logan Conference Center. You will then travel a one mile loop around the Conference Center and back out onto Chieftain Drive and back to the Health Department - 3.1 miles (there will be water throughout the course). On the day of the race, please bring a canned food item for our local food pantries. For each item brought in you will receive a ticket to be entered into a drawing to win a gift. The drawing will take place at the end of the race and you must be present to win. Awards will be given to the Top 3 Overall, Top 3 Walkers (must walk the entire course) 1st place runners in each age group: <12, 13-17, 18-29, 30-44, 45-59, 60+. $15 registration before day of race / $20 registration day of race. SATURDAY - Cabin Fever, Spring Nature Photography Workshop - 9am to 5pm; Photographer Eric Hoffman provides this hands-on photography workshop filled with practical and usable techniques in nature photography. SATURDAY & SUNDAY - Spirit Wood Sculpture Studio Classes - 10am to 4pm; Artist Spirit Williams offers classes suitable for beginners, although intermediate carvers will learn much from them as well. The carving being taught is Tulip in Relief. A list of recommended tools will be sent with the confirmation letter. The requirements are minimal. SATURDAY - Little Roy & Lizzy Long Show - Straight From the Heart of Dixie - 7pm; This National Bluegrass Show comes to the Hocking Hills for the benefit of the new Hocking Hills Inspire Homeless Shelter. The American Woodcock has one of the most elaborate courtship rituals of many of Ohio's avian friends and is one of the most intriguing to observe. SATURDAY, April 7th - Bunny Hop Shop Hop; Are you looking for a unique way to celebrate Easter this year? Check out this event being organized by our friends at Scenic Way Gifts and The Wind Chime Shop. When Peter Cottontail comes hopping down the bunny trail, several local businesses are hoping that visitors will hop into their stores for the first ever Bunny Hop Shop Hop. The event will be held on April 7 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Ticket holders will receive an Easter basket which they can take to more than a dozen participating businesses. At each stop they will receive a candy treat and some surprises along the way. Participating businesses who have signed up so far include Scenic Way Gifts and Art Glass Studio, Christmas Treasures, Wind Chime Shop, Gills Family Pharmacy, Inn and Spa at Cedar Falls, Pumpkin Ridge Quilts and Repair, Vinton County Floral, Weavers Tree and Antiques, Zaleski Candleworks, Equestrian Ridge Riding Stable, Flutes and Peppercorns Mobile Kitchen (The Gourmet Peddler) and Hocking Hills Scenic Air Tours. Tickets cost $20 each and include the basket, candy, discounts and a voucher for lunch from Chef Mary's Gourmet Peddler. The box lunch will include potato soup, chicken salad, fruit salad, drink and dessert and will be available from noon to 2 p.m. Tickets can be purchased with Visa or Mastercard at Scenic Way Gifts and Art Glass Studio, the Wind Chime Shop. NOW THROUGH May 20th - LOOKING FORWARD: Work by the Faculty of Columbus College of Art & Design - 10am to 4pm Tuesday through Saturday, 1pm to 4pm Sunday; Michael Goodson, Curator, has recently arrived at CCAD from New York City and has assembled an exhibition pairing diverse work by ten of the school's faculty, for example: A deconstruction of William Tecumseh Sherman's War is Hell speech, literally word for word, dispersed throughout contemporary Lancaster for people to find and keep, juxtaposed with an installation reflecting a personal history of a childhood in rural Ohio. His Pencil Sharpener Museum, previously located at his home, has been moved to the Welcome Center and is open daily. This amazing collection of over 3400 pencil sharpeners has been featured in national magazines and is reputed to be the largest collection in the United States. DAILY (Mon - Sat) The Columbus Washboard Company Museum and Gift Shop - There is so much history from our company and building's past that we wish to share it with everyone. The tour will not only provide historical information, but will also include the opportunity to observe the manufacturing of washboards, and participate in making music with the washboard. The factory will operate daily, as usual, with our washboards being produced one at a time by hand. We are the only manufacturer of washboards remaining in the United States. Our gift shop features our washboards, memorabilia and new line of vintage soaps. The Museum is a WiFi hotspot and offers snacks and beverages, for a place to relax and take care of business. Tours will be offered Monday through Friday at 10:00am, noon, and 2:00pm; Saturdays by appointment. Special arrangements will be made for large groups.
