WEDNESDAY TO SATURDAY - Parade of the Hills; Come to downtown Nelsonville August 18-21 for fun filled days of rides, food, parades, and free entertainment. Once again in 2010 midway wrist bands are only $15 dollars for the entire day! Cheap! Ride 100 times, and that's 15 cents per ride! THURSDAY - Games of the Past - 2pm; Let's spend some time learning games that were played many years ago. Whether you'd like to learn how to play different games or just want to relive some childhood memories, meet with us. Gather at the Naturalist Cabin, located behind the Old Man's CaveVisitorCenter. FRIDAY - Ohio State Fiddling Contest - 6pm to 10pm; Join us for one of the premier fiddling events in Ohio. Whether you're a fiddler, or someone who enjoys fiddling, this contest offers something for you. This event will put a smile on your face, and have you tapping your toes in no time. SATURDAY - Hands-on Stained Glass Workshop - 10am to 12pm; Learn basic copper foil stained glass techniques with Audrey Martin. Classes are two hours long and all supplies are provided. At the end of the class you will walk away with your completed project and the knowledge to dive into more sophisticated glass projects. Fee: $25; All supplies are provided. SATURDAY - Art Market - 10am to 1pm; Athens Local Professional Artists & Craftsmen Association (A.L.P.A.C.A.) members will offer local art and crafts for sale from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. one Saturday per month this summer at the Market on East State Street, adjacent to the Athens Farmers Market. SATURDAY - Moonlight Tour at Hocking Hills Canoe Livery - 7pm to 11pm; Paddle your canoe from sunset to moonlight, using the light of the moon as it reflects on the water. Your trip ends at the livery with a roaring bonfire, s'mores and a local bluegrass band for your enjoyment. Reservations highly recommended. Every Saturday & Wednesday - Athens Farmers' Market - 10am to 1pm; now in its 38th year, the Athens Farmers' Market serves as a wonderful venue for trade and conversation. It also serves as a kind of food business incubator for small producers attempting to start a new enterprise. Enjoy a narrated ride in a vintage 1920s coach, a 1970 heavy-weight coach or an open air car. See a canal lock. Travel to the last company town in Ohio. SATURDAY August, 28th - Hands-On Woodcarving - 1pm to 3pm; Learn basic woodcarving techniques with Spirit Williams, a well known sculptor and long time resident of Hocking Hills. The class is two hours long and the blank and knife are provided. The project is an intaglio carving of a fern. The techniques learned can be used to create block prints. Fee: $25; knife and blank provided. Groups can schedule special sessions to learn relief carving or figurine carving. Planning a visit to the Hocking Hills State Park? The Hocking Hills State Park is part of a pilot program called "Carry In, Carry Out". This means whatever you carry into the park you need to carry out, all waste and recyclables. Most National Parks have already adopted this policy.
