SATURDAY - Hocking Hills Indian Run - 7am; Annual Trail Run through the Hocking Hills. SUNDAY - Vinton County Air Show - 11am to 5pm;This is the 41st Anniversary of our Air Show and it will be spectacular! We will have at least eight performers, Ohio University's DC-3, homebuilt experimental aircraft and ultra-lights on display. Hang gliders, parachute jumps and candy drop will also be featured. DAILY - Paul A. Johnson Pencil Sharpener Museum - Mon to Sat, 9am to 5pm; Sun 11am to 5pm; Rev. Paul Johnson began his collection over 20 years ago. His Pencil Sharpener Museum, previously located at his home, has been moved to the Welcome Center and is open daily. This amazing collection of over 3400 pencil sharpeners has been featured in national magazines and is reputed to be the largest collection in the United States. DAILY (Mon - Sat) The Columbus Washboard Company Museum and Gift Shop - Monday through Friday at 10:00am, noon, and 2:00pm; Saturdays at noon, and Sundays and holidays by appointment. There is so much history from our company and building's past that we wish to share it with everyone. The tour will not only provide historical information, but will also include the opportunity to observe the manufacturing of washboards, and participate in making music with the washboard. The factory will operate daily, as usual, with our washboards being produced one at a time by hand. We are the only manufacturer of washboards remaining in the United States. Our gift shop features our washboards, memorabilia and new line of vintage soaps. The Museum is a WiFi hotspot and offers snacks and beverages, for a place to relax and take care of business. Tours will be offered Monday through Friday at 10:00am, noon, and 2:00pm; Saturdays at noon, and Sundays and holidays by appointment. Special arrangements will be made for large groups. Ravenwood's Cream Tea is a popular afternoon choice. The Little Shops at Ravenwood are open the same hours as the Tea Room and present unique artisan works and castle-themed gifts. The founder of Hocking Valley Canoe Livery recently passed away from an eight year battle with breast cancer. SPECIAL NOTICE FROM HOCKING HILLS STATE PARK
As of September 6, 2011, the Old Man's Cave Gorge Trail (blue trail) from the Lower Falls at Old Man's Cave to the old floating bridge at Cedar Falls will be closed. Park staff will be working to restore the trail due to flood damage that occurred in July. The trail will reopen October 1, 2011. Hikers can still hike from Old Man's Cave to Cedar Falls by utilizing the Gorge Overlook Trail (red trail). Thank you for your patience as these critical repairs are completed.

Beginning August 28th TV ads will be running through September on Time Warner in the metro Columbus market promoting the Hocking Hills for a second chance at a summer vacation. The ads direct travelers to the HHTA web page where they will find "Second Summer Specials". If you have not already posted a September special for your business consider doing so. This is not just for lodging businesses. Dining, shopping and attractions are all encouraged to post a special. If you advise your guests to "bring their own firewood" be sure to correctly inform them of the ban on bringing in firewood from out of the area. They will need to purchase firewood once they arrive in the Hocking Hills

Please advise visitors about the Hocking Hills State Parks' new "Carry In, Carry Out" policy - all waste and recyclables carried into the Parks must be carried out. Help keep the Hocking Hills clean and green.
