NOW through September 15th - Ohio & the Civil War: 150 Years Later; an Ohio Historical Society traveling exhibit, this exhibit explores Ohio's participation in the war and focuses especially on individual's choices that impacted local communities and the course of the war. There are tree themes; Democracy, Transformation and Memory. All are used to reveal Civil War stories that impacted Ohio in the 19th century to the present day. Through the lens of these themes, the exhibit explores topics such as civil rights, political dissent, pacifism, religion and popular culture and reveals patterns in our country's response to such topics throughout history. DAILY (Mon - Sat) The Columbus Washboard Company Museum and Gift Shop - Monday through Friday at 10:00am, noon, and 2:00pm; Saturdays at noon, and Sundays and holidays by appointment. There is so much history from our company and building's past that we wish to share it with everyone. The tour will not only provide historical information, but will also include the opportunity to observe the manufacturing of washboards, and participate in making music with the washboard. The factory will operate daily, as usual, with our washboards being produced one at a time by hand. We are the only manufacturer of washboards remaining in the United States. Our gift shop features our washboards, memorabilia and new line of vintage soaps. The Museum is a WiFi hotspot and offers snacks and beverages, for a place to relax and take care of business. SPECIAL NOTICE FROM HOCKING HILLS STATE PARK
As of September 6, 2011, the Old Man's Cave Gorge Trail (blue trail) from the Lower Falls at Old Man's Cave to the old floating bridge at Cedar Falls will be closed. Park staff will be working to restore the trail due to flood damage that occurred in July. The trail will reopen October 1, 2011. Hikers can still hike from Old Man's Cave to Cedar Falls by utilizing the Gorge Overlook Trail (red trail). Thank you for your patience as these critical repairs are completed.
