FRIDAY - Final Fridays - Halloween on the Square - 6pm to 10pm; The Nelsonville Historic Arts District and Final Fridays on the Square are putting out a CALL FOR ZOMBIES to descend on Nelsonville's Public Square on Friday, October 28th at 6:00pm. We are looking for all kinds of undead: adults, kids, babies, pets, grandparents, and anyone else who is hungry for brains. The monthly Final Fridays on the Square will be overrun by the undead in celebration of Halloween weekend! Zombies can begin arriving any time after 6:00pm and should meet up by the fountain in the center of the square with a special Nelsonville Zombiewalk taking place at 7:30pm and leaving from the fountain. We are hoping to make this zombie takeover of Nelsonville an annual occurrence, so please help us spread the word! Tell your friends, family, and co-workers and get them to come out and fill our historic town square with the undead. There will also be a costume contest in the opera house at 8:30pm! Cash prizes for best costume, ages 16 and over.

SATURDAY - Halloween on the Hocking - 7pm; Corn mazes can be scary and haunted houses can be terrifying, but nothing compares to the thrill of Halloween on the Hocking! On this haunted night, we canoe a five-mile stretch under the creepiness of the full moon. Stay close together since we do not know who may be lurking around the river bend. Hot chocolate, snacks and music, along with a roaring bonfire, will be offered for those lucky enough to make it back from the canoe trip. SUNDAY - Annual Halloween Parade - 2pm; Parade line-up begins at 1:30 pm at the PNC Bank drive-through parking lot and gets underway promptly at 2 pm. Parade travels west on Main Street, turns left on Spring Street, turns left on Second Street, turns left on Market Street and ends at the gazebo in Worthington Park. Parade participants will receive a candy bar and there will be costume judging. Prizes awarded in four costume categories: prettiest, scariest, funniest, and most original. Each costume category will include four age ranges with three winners chosen in each age group of each category. Are groups are: 0-4 yrs old; 5-10 yrs old; 11-15 yrs old; 16 and over. The City of Logan will observe "Beggar's Night" immediately following the parade from 3-5 pm. Sponsored by the Logan Kiwanis Club; FREE

Through 2011 - "Logan and Hocking County...A Timeline"
New Exhibit at the Historical Society features several hundred years of the county's history condensed into four panels on display. The timeline includes Native Americans, the first settlers (1798), the Civil War, the Hocking Valley Railway, and more...up to the year 1917, when Logan celebrated its centennial. Through October - "THROUGH THE LENS"; Tenth of twelve monthly exhibits for 2011. This exhibit will feature the work of the Hocking Valley Photography Group that meets at the Bowen House, under the mentorship of Dennis Savage, and will include fall themed photos, both black/white and color. Some of the students share their work on "Flicker" under "Hocking Valley Photography Group." Exhibit will remain on display the month of October - call for ending date. Through October - FRIDAY - Starbrick Clay National Cup Show 2011; This is a juried exhibit of contemporary cups which takes place at the gallery every other year. This year a total of 300 entries from 40 states and Canada were submitted. Out of those 300, the juror chose 50 artists to be in the show, with a total of 65 cups. DAILY - Paul A. Johnson Pencil Sharpener Museum - Mon to Sat, 9am to 5pm; Sun 11am to 5pm; Rev. Paul Johnson began his collection over 20 years ago. His Pencil Sharpener Museum, previously located at his home, has been moved to the Welcome Center and is open daily. This amazing collection of over 3400 pencil sharpeners has been featured in national magazines and is reputed to be the largest collection in the United States. DAILY (Mon - Sat) The Columbus Washboard Company Museum and Gift Shop - Monday through Friday at 10:00am, noon, and 2:00pm; Saturdays at 11:30 am and 1 pm, and Sundays and holidays by appointment. There is so much history from our company and building's past that we wish to share it with everyone. The tour will not only provide historical information, but will also include the opportunity to observe the manufacturing of washboards, and participate in making music with the washboard. The factory will operate daily, as usual, with our washboards being produced one at a time by hand. We are the only manufacturer of washboards remaining in the United States. Our gift shop features our washboards, memorabilia and new line of vintage soaps. The Museum is a WiFi hotspot and offers snacks and beverages, for a place to relax and take care of business. Tours will be offered Monday through Friday at 10:00am, noon, and 2:00pm; Saturdays at noon, and Sundays and holidays by appointment. Special arrangements will be made for large groups.
