SATURDAY, March 2nd - Wild Weekend Discovery Series; "Owls" - 10am and noon; Bring your children and enjoy this free fun-filled educational program that's designed for preschool to 5th grade. This one-hour program has two starting times; one at 10am and another at noon. Space is limited to 15 seats per session. MONDAYS - Airplane Rock Trek - 10am; Explore the trail to Airplane Rock then descend into Long Hollow and search out Chapel Cave. It's always a fantastic time of year to trek this two mile loop including the breathtaking view of Crane Hollow that you'll see from Airplane Rock. Your guides will interpret the diverse geology, biology and wildlife life found along the way. TUESDAYS - Big Spring and Table Rock Trek - 10am; Enjoy this naturalist led loop trek through the Hocking State Forest and take in some of the many geological landmarks including Table Rock, Amazing Grace, Big Spring & Bent Tree. WEDNESDAYS - Chapel Cave Trek - 10am; Explore Long Hollow with a professional naturalist. It's always a fantastic time of year to trek this two mile loop, including a breathtaking box canyon and Chapel Cave. Your guides will interpret the diverse geology, biology and wildlife found along the way. It's an easy walk along a fairly wide trail with a few trees to step over, but generally easy to hike and completed in less than three hours. The ground can be a bit soft in some areas if there's recent rain, so be sure to wear good hiking shoes/boots. THURSDAYS - Spruce Hollow One-Way Trek - 10am; Our Spruce Hollow one-way trek is absolutely beautiful. We'll start at the top of Spruce Hollow and drop down in to this Hocking State Forest area. It's full of mature, open forest, fantastic geology, caves and waterfalls. Our one-way treks are designed for folks who are interested in swinging their arms a bit and covering some ground. One-way treks are different from our interpretive treks in that we make less frequent stops. FRIDAYS - Sheick Hollow Trek - 10am;  Sheick Hollow is a fascinating, untouched State Nature Preserve with diverse rocks, caves, waterfalls, plants and wildlife in a protected area requiring a permit to enter. Our guides lead this interpretive trek and help you and your group discover and understand the living forest and its evolving landscape. SATURDAYS - Little Rocky Preserve Trek - 10am; Little Rocky is the crown jewel of Ohio State Nature Preserves in the Hocking Hills region. It's the largest in terms of acreage and grandest in terms of geology, biology and wildlife diversity. It's a special, amazing, untouched place with many side canyons and rugged terrain. You will be blown away by the beauty of this preserve. Fortunately, it's a protected area requiring a permit to enter. SATURDAYS - Rappelling Trek - 10am; For mainstream climbers, rappelling is simply "the way down." For adventurous thrill seekers and first time visitors to the Hocking Hills it's an adrenaline rush unlike anything else. On the day of your rappelling trek, our expert guides walk you through the basics of safety, equipment, setup, technique and use of rappel devices. You'll begin on 20 to 30 foot walls and move to higher ground. Many first timers conquer Amazing Grace at 80' and some do Big Springs at 107' or Bent Tree at 120'. The experience is awesome. Equipment provided includes: helmet, ropes, rappel devices, adjustable harness and gloves.  We meet at the Rappelling area parking lot at 9:30am. SUNDAYS - Rocky Fork one way Trek - 10am; The Rocky Fork one way trek starts out on the Buckeye Trail, cuts through Little Rocky Nature Preserve, crosses over the top of Sheick Hollow, enters Long Hollow, passes Chapel Cave and ends at your car. Our one way treks are designed for folks that are interested in swinging their arms a bit and covering some ground. You'll get into a rhythm as your guide provides interpretive insights on the go. This trek includes protected areas that require permits to enter. SUNDAYS - Rock Climbing Trek - 10am; The Hocking State Forest Rappelling and Climbing area offers a convenient location and an excellent opportunity to be introduced to rock climbing and top rope climbing basics. Safety is our number one concern. Our expert guides are schooled and practiced in achieving and maintaining the highest safety standards. Beginners are taught basic setup, technique and use of rappel devices. You'll start out climbing 10 to 20 foot walls and may reach 40'. Experienced to advanced climbers will be surprised by the challenge and skill development opportunity this area provides. Look for vendors selling produce, meats, eggs, cheese, jarred products, baked goods and lots more. DAILY - SALT AND PEPPER SHAKER MUSEUM AT FIDDLESTIX; View several hundred vintage figural salt and pepper shaker sets at Fiddlestix Village; 24180 St. Rt. 93 just south of the St. Rt. 56/93 intersection. A changing display of shaker sets are arranged by categories on shelves in three large windows. Groups include, various animals, people, holidays birds, fish, tools, buildings, vacation souvenirs and many more. Most of the sets are from the 1940s to the present. A smaller window hosts a monthly special exhibit. The best viewing time is between 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. Viewers are invited at their own risk, and the exhibit is open unless there is snow or ice on the parking lot. DAILY - Paul A. Johnson Pencil Sharpener Museum - Mon to Sat, 9am to 5pm; Sun 11am to 5pm; Rev. Paul Johnson began his collection over 20 years ago. His Pencil Sharpener Museum, previously located at his home, has been moved to the Welcome Center and is open daily. This amazing collection of over 3400 pencil sharpeners has been featured in national magazines and is reputed to be the largest collection in the United States. DAILY (Mon - Sat) The Columbus Washboard Company Museum and Gift Shop - There is so much history from our company and building's past that we wish to share it with everyone. The tour will not only provide historical information, but will also include the opportunity to observe the manufacturing of washboards, and participate in making music with the washboard. The factory will operate daily, as usual, with our washboards being produced one at a time by hand. We are the only manufacturer of washboards remaining in the United States. Our gift shop features our washboards, memorabilia and new line of vintage soaps. The Museum is a WiFi hotspot and offers snacks and beverages, for a place to relax and take care of business. Tours will be offered Monday through Friday at 10:00am, noon, and 2:00pm; Saturdays by appointment. Special arrangements will be made for large groups. Museum hours are Monday through Friday 9:00am to 3:00pm and Saturday by appointment. Tours are $4 which includes souvenir magnet.
