Bring lawn chairs as bench seating is limited. Food & beverages for sale in the park or bring your own picnic basket. No alcohol permitted. Portable restroom on site. Concerts generally occur rain or shine except in a severe storm. Concerts are free due to the generosity of local merchants, organizations and individual donors. FRIDAY - The Spikedrivers - 7pm to 9:30pm; Stuart's Opera House Free Summer Concert Series features The Spikedrivers. In 2003 a new sound sprang up in the Rust Belt; a raucous, down-and-dirty sound, an intoxicating and gritty sound that pulled people in droves to dance floors across the Midwest. SATURDAY - Cabooses Only Train- 11am; See what it was like to ride the rails in a caboose aboard our annual all-caboose train! Every so often, the collection of privately-owned cabooses in Nelsonville are opened up to the public and assembled into a special all-caboose train. During the ride, several photo run-bys will take place. The trip will last approximately three hours and operates the full length of the line to East Logan and return. A great event for the railfan in your life! SATURDAY & SUNDAY - Train Rides with Historic Village Stop - noon & 2:30pm; Take a leisurely trip on a passenger train dating back to the 1920s. Hear about Hocking Valley history as you pass the remains of industries, canal locks and other historic landmarks. The noon trip to Haydenville covers 14 miles roundtrip and the 2:30 trip to Logan is 22 miles roundtrip. DAILY - Paul A. Johnson Pencil Sharpener Museum - Mon to Sat, 9am to 5pm; Sun 11am to 5pm; Rev. Paul Johnson began his collection over 20 years ago. His Pencil Sharpener Museum, previously located at his home, has been moved to the Welcome Center and is open daily. This amazing collection of over 3400 pencil sharpeners has been featured in national magazines and is reputed to be the largest collection in the United States. DAILY (Mon - Sat) The Columbus Washboard Company Museum and Gift Shop - There is so much history from our company and building's past that we wish to share it with everyone. The tour will not only provide historical information, but will also include the opportunity to observe the manufacturing of washboards, and participate in making music with the washboard. The factory will operate daily, as usual, with our washboards being produced one at a time by hand. We are the only manufacturer of washboards remaining in the United States. Our gift shop features our washboards, memorabilia and new line of vintage soaps. The Museum is a WiFi hotspot and offers snacks and beverages, for a place to relax and take care of business. Tours will be offered Monday through Friday at 10:00am, noon, and 2:00pm; Saturdays at 11:30am and 1pm. Special arrangements will be made for large groups.
